Biore Hydra-Clear Makeup Remover (Full Review)

Biore Hydra-Clear Makeup Remover
Biore Hydra-Clear Makeup Remover (Full Review)

emptied this product, but it's no wonder because i got this about 3 years ago.. but i didn't quite like using it that's why it took me soooo long to finish it.

Biore Hydra-Clear Makeup Remover
i don't know if that's the expiry date, or date of production. SHRUGS.

let me address all the features point by point. i stole them off the official website:

Suitable for both face and eye makeup removal.
definitely suitable for the face and non-waterproof eye makeup. i use waterproof mascara so it's quite a pain in my ass if i were to use this for eye makeup removal.

Specially formulated with high-grade cleansing ingredient that removes makeup effortlessly and gently with no rubbing or tugging at your skin.
does quite a decent job at lifting off facial makeup, but i don't wear that much on my face to begin with. needs to be rubbed in and massaged in though, so it's not like what they claimed "no rubbing". since it's an oil-like liquid, it's frictionless so it doesn't tug at my skin.

Instantly dissolves and lifts away all tough, waterproof makeup even at the delicate areas around the eyes.
hmm. not too sure about "instantly dissolving all tough, waterproof makeup". either the oil doesn't do what it claims, or my waterproof mascara is being an ass. but i doubt it's the latter because with an eye makeup remover, it comes off so easily.

Water-based formula leaves no greasy or tight feeling after use
definitely emulsifies well and doesn't leave my face greasy! amazing thing! HOWEVER, my face does feel tight after rinsing it off
.

Rinse-off formula- convenient and easy to use, no need for cotton facial pads or tissue
it's convenient in a sense that i can just pour it into my hand and rub it in directly, ridding the need of cotton pads. but the thing is.. i prefer using cotton pads because that way, the liquid doesn't drip down all over my hand when i massage.

IMHO
don't get me wrong, the makeup removing power of this remover is sufficient to get rid of my face makeup, just that i'm more into using cotton pads as it's less messy for me, that's why i gave it a little less love. i don't know why they make claims that they're able to lift off even waterproof eye makeup. are you kidding me? did they mean to soak that area in the makeup remover for a good 15s before rubbing and massage? that isn't the easiest thing to do with a palm full of liquid that's in a space that has gravity.

however, i think this makeup remover will be perfect for people who removes their makeup in the shower, as you will probably have no regards for dripping liquids, and it's easier for you to rinse everything off easily without worrying it'll dirty your clothes (since you don't have any on! DUH!).

i just don't enjoy the process of emulsifying the oil with water and having those liquid drip down my hands and arms. too messy for my liking. if you don't mind that, you'll probably quite like this product because i know i'll use this more often if i remove my makeup in the shower. what's easier than massaging your face and getting makeup off? it's as simple as washing your face with a cleanser.

i also feel that it strips away too much of my natural oils. not too fond of that.

i purchased this for.. SGD18. i believe this product is off the shelves by now.

IN A NUTSHELL
1. can't remove waterproof mascara that efficiently
2. removes facial makeup good enough
3. emulsifies with water pretty easily
4. no oily after feel
5. removes too much of my oils

Bifesta Eye Makeup Remover (Review)

Bifesta Eye Makeup Remover (Review)
Bifesta Eye Makeup Remover (Review)

eye makeup remover is a need for me because i use waterproof mascara. this makes it so easy to remove my eye makeup without tugging. there's no magic to this, you just have to press the cotton pad against your eyes and count to 10 before swiping it downward to bring everything away with it.

this is a bi-phase remover, similar to most eye makeup remover in the market. the oil-water mixture helps remove waterproof and non waterproof makeup at the same time! as there are surfactants in water based makeup remover which will strip away your oils, the oil in this mixture sort of help to replenish a little bit of it so that it doesn't leave your delicate eye area overly drying.

Bifesta Eye Makeup Remover (Review)
suggested usage instructions on the back of the bottle, but it's in japanese.
1. pour a sufficient amount on cotton pad
2. when removing mascara, press cotton pad against eye for a few seconds before swiping it off
3. remove contact lens before using
4. you can also use this for the lips and mouth area.

Bifesta Eye Makeup Remover (Review)
two-phases (water and oil)! it comes in a 145ml bottle.

Bifesta Eye Makeup Remover (Review)
as you need to shake the product before using, the most practical kind of bottle opening would be this.

my experience with it so far is rather pleasant. does the job well at removing my waterproof mascara. this is actually a little bit oily if you use it alone, but i always use the bifesta cleansing lotion to remove away that oily feeling afterwards anyway, saves me the hassle of washing my face with a cleanser :P (i still wash my face though, just that it's not immediately after i remove my eye makeup).

IMHO
i like this eye makeup remover because it's affordable, and does what it is supposed to do. it fits my simple needs well - to remove waterproof eye makeup.

i can only compare this to the only eye makeup remover i've used before, which is the l'oreal gentle eye and lips makeup remover. that is also a bi-phase makeup remover. they have similar price points, and does the job equally well. one thing that the bifesta eye makeup remover can improve on is probably to decrease the stinging feeling when it gets into my eyes no matter how tight i try to shut my eyes. somehow it still manages to sneak in. it doesn't burn, but it's pretty unpleasant as that sensation stays for a while.

the pains we go through to look pretty.. haha!

IN A NUTSHELL
1. affordable
2. efficient in removing eye makeup (especially waterproof mascara)

i will probably go back to the l'oreal makeup remover since they don't have much differences in terms of capabilities, but i know where to get it really cheap (SGD7!!!). :P much cheaper than the bifesta in singapore.

i purchased this for HKD$45.5 in HK watsons when it was having a 30% offer.

Bifesta BRIGHT UP Cleansing Lotion (Review)

Bifesta BRIGHT UP Cleansing Lotion (Review)
Bifesta BRIGHT UP Cleansing Lotion (Review)

you may be puzzled by the name "cleansing lotion", because this is clearly a watery liquid. once again, japanese toners are called lotion. this is a makeup remover + skin care lotion. they claim that it's ok even if you don't rinse your face with water after that because it won't leave your skin feeling stripped. this is a water based makeup remover, and it reminds me a lot of the bioderma sensibio/crealine micellar solution.

they have 4 different types of cleansing lotion, each targeting a different concern. i chose BRIGHT UP because.. i'm into whitening and brightening. nuff' said.

contains AHA (i guess it's lactic acid) for gentle exfoliation and melanin inhibiting ingredients, but i can't find the ingredient list for this.

Bifesta BRIGHT UP Cleansing Lotion (Review)
comes in a convenient pump bottle.

Bifesta BRIGHT UP Cleansing Lotion (Review)
it is suggested to pump it onto cotton pad.

if you don't already know about bioderma micelle solution, it's a "water" that can remove even waterproof makeup. sounds amazing, isn't it? this is just like that, except it is as a fraction of the cost.

i've personally tried the bioderma solution, i would rate the both of them the same because they remove my facial makeup just fine, i don't remember any significant difference that would justify the huge difference in price. in that aspect, the bifesta cleansing lotion has won a place in my heart. it lifts off my facial makeup in a single swipe across my face!

as for waterproof makeup, let's not push it, ok? i think there's a reason why there's a separate eye makeup remover that's being sold. for someone who doesn't use any waterproof mascara, i think this makeup remover alone will be sufficient for you. i'll leave my eye area to the eye makeup remover as i use waterproof mascara, and there's no point in me using this to try to remove it simply because 1. i  need to tug more than i have to, 2. i need more time to remove it than if i were to use a dedicated eye makeup remover.

even though they say it's fine if i don't rinse my face with water, i still do that because it does leave behind a strange tightening feeling when i skip on the rinsing. you know the feeling of turning into a raisin? hahaha i don't know how that feels like, but that's the only thing that came into my mind. rinsing decreases that feeling, but doesn't get rid of it entirely. the micelle water does take away some of my oils too.

IMHO
i really like this makeup remover, as i'm the type who prefers to use cotton pads to wipe off my makeup. it's easy to use and pretty fuss free, hey, at least it doesn't drip all over! i can just throw off that cotton pad after i'm done - no need for further massaging with water to emulsify the oils before washing it off.

i think this makeup remover does a pretty decent job at removing my makeup, doesn't leave my skin overly dry (as compared to other makeup removers i've tried in the past), and doesn't leave behind an oily feeling (since this is a water based product! YAY!).

BUT, if the makeup remover happens to enter your eyes.. it does sting a bit. makes my eye water. it is very important to remove your contact lens before using this. i had a really scary experience with it once - my contact lens stuck to my cornea for a while before loosening up again. i can't tell you how scared i was T.T

i use this to remove my facial makeup. i'm a cleansing freak, i use this after my eye makeup remover to remove any left over products around my eye area (of course, on my face as well).

IN A NUTSHELL
1. removes non waterproof makeup easily.
2. good for cleansing the entire face.
3. not that efficient in removing waterproof eye makeup.
4. stings the eye if it enters.
5. MUST REMOVE CONTACT LENS FIRST.

i bought this for HKD45.5 in HK watsons while it was having 30% off. SUPER GOOD BUY, i already bought a backup.
