base make up routine

have you guys checked out this video yet?
i'm showing how i do my base makeup usually!

PRODUCTS
1. biore UV aqua rich sunscreen
2. dr jart black label bb cream
3. kate mineral powder foundation

4. nature republic brightening CC cream
5. sonia kashuk hidden agenda concealer palette

most of the time i just do with the first 3 items in the first photos.
i love this sunscreen by biore. it's more moisturizing and does not leave my face feeling sticky like the original non-whitening version.
the bb cream does an ok job at lightening my dark circles and evening my skin tone,
sometimes i want my face to look more natural so i choose not to cover my dark circles completely :P
i finish off my base makeup with powder because it's really too hot in singapore.
i need the powder to absorb some of the oil and sweat that will be produced throughout the day.
however, when the weather is cooler i do prefer to do without the powder because i actually like the dewy look :)

when i need full coverage, i'll use the sonia kashuk concealer to color correct and conceal the dark circles.
the nature republic CC cream is used as a brightener and highlighter when i feel that my skin needs that dewy glow.

hadanomy collagen mist

here comes the mist!
it was the hit product a few years ago,
i only managed to lay my hands on it this may.

price: HKD$68
i got this from sasa when it was having a 10% off for hadanomy products.

what it claims:
this belongs to the hadanomy collagen line up, so the claims are the same as the collagen lotion mentioned in previous entries.
- hyaluronic acid to attract moisture
- 1000mg of micro collagen that penetrates skin to lock in moisture
- contains acerola extract and honey for unknown purposes (well, they didn't state, but i assume it's for moisturizing purposes)

my experience with it:
i like to use this during day time after i wash my face in the morning.
its consistency is much lighter (slightly more viscous than water) than the collagen lotion, absorbs a little easier than the lotion since i don't have to pat as much. saves me time in the morning rush hour too!
it preps up my skin for the flurry of products i'll apply next.
depending on the situation, i'll add a layer of cream most of the time before i pile on my sun screen and make up.

i also like to use it as a setting mist after i've done my makeup to help it last longer.

however, the mist produced isn't really even, i can feel that it's a circular ring of products being deposited on my face. hmmm..

i really like the spray bottle. it makes application more convenient!
i may or may not repurchase this, but if i don't, i'll probably reuse the bottle with my new lotion. :P

MakeUpDiary M.U.D. #5 OCEAN SHIMMER

over time i've collected 3 blue eyeshadow palettes.
it took me some time to figure out how to wear it for daytime purpose without scaring the crap out of people.
"did she just come from the circus?" i wouldn't wanna illicit this kind of response!

this is how i wear blue eyeshadow in the day,
i think the main point is to use the darker shades of blue only as an accent and not the main colour you'd apply all over your lid.
also, i did away with lining my lower lash line with the blue to keep the look light and summery (instead i lined it lightly with a matte brown colour just to fake the luscious lashes look).

got some help from my friend in giving this look a name, since i can't think of anything edible that is blue and metallic.

THE LOOK

i love the baked eyeshadow from pupa,
it reveals a slightly different shade at different angles, what a surprise!
and the colour is a electric blue that shows up so well!!!
super pigmented product.

ocean shimmer 3
i kept the blue within my lids so that when i open my eyes it produces a clean look instead of the smokey look effect (which isn't very suitable for day time).

when viewed at different angles, you can see the blue shadow change its tone!

i think this is a great way to wear colour eyeshadows/eyeliners :)

oh my gosh, i'm finally back into making videos!
my first makeup video this year!

this is just a simple variation one of the looks i've published earlier, M.U.D. #3,
except that i used a black liner instead of the brown liner.
also, i used an orange blush instead of the pink blush!
so i'm calling this M.U.D. #3V, V stands for variation :P

this is the look that i almost always fall back on if i'm not adventurous enough.
a neutral shade like brown will match ANY colours of clothings that i wear,
my motto is..
WHEN UNSURE, GO BROWN.

shiseido senka whitening lotion w(s)

my first ever whitening product in my skincare routine!
i decided to buy this after reading good reviews on both cosme.net and urcosme.com (japanese and taiwanese beauty review portals!).

ok, i admit the main reason why i bought this was because it is dirt cheap for the effects it claims to deliver.

price: HKD$87
i don't think i can find anything more affordable than this.
it being this easy on my wallet means i can use it generously with cotton pads as instant face masks for a last minute pick-me-up.

the main whitening ingredient in this lotion is the stable vitamin C derivative.
vitamin C on its own is an anti oxidant and oxidizes very easily.
i think there's some truth in it.
the lotion is usually clear and colourless you see..
but there are drops that will leak out of the opening and over time i realize those droplets will have a tinge of yellow! which looks exactly like how my oxidized ascorbic acid (vitamic C) crystals!
so yea, i think the fact that the lotion is colourless means it's still "fresh" (active ingredients still alive!).

it claims to be as effective as a serum (they define a serum as something that is small enought to penetrate the skin easily),
but lightweight as a lotion.
i'm not sure about the first, but the latter surely is true.
it's a clear fluid that's as viscous as water,
smells a little like alcohol to me,
absorbs quickly with some light patting.
best thing is it doesn't leave my face feeling sticky after that!

i've been using it for 5 months already,
sometimes twice a day, lately it's been reduced to only once at night.
i use it right after cleansing my face at night, since it hydrates and whitens.
i pile on my other hydrating lotion and creams after that so seal everything in. :)

i noticed my dark spots lightening up after the months of using this product.
it is quite unnoticeable, which was probably why it took me 5 months to realize it.
however, i find my face and neck to be brighter these days.
i used to be quite dull and yellow in the first few months of 2012,
but not anymore!
i'm not as fair as i used to be, but definitely not as sallow as compared to a few months ago.

don't expect this to give you instant whitening effects though.
it's a lotion afterall, the effective ingredients can't penetrate that deeply into our skin.
for those kind of effects, you might want to try serums (especially those that will burn a hole in your pockets).

new look

finally got around to making a dedicated blogskin for this place.
i just can't stand the previous one, it didn't look bad but it's not personal at all!

hope anyone who drops by this place will like the new look too :)
i spent 3 days putting everything together!
:D for a coding noob i think i did good enough!
had to take a lot of work-arounds to make things turn out the way i wanted.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

GEO World Green CM-903

geo cm 903 world green
having worn the world grey previously, i laid my hands on something more adventurous this time..
it's the world green, also known as CM-903.

i first saw it on the angelcolor website, aya was sporting it and it looked so good on her,
the green doesn't seem over powering, from the photo i thought it looked quite natural (as in it blends well with the face, unlike the nudy lens).

it took me a while to figure out how to rock this pair of lens though,
the first time i wore it i felt so weird because i didn't pair it with the right make up look.
took some trail and error but i think i've found the perfect combination.

ENLARGING EFFECT:

geo cm 903 world green

there is a tiny bit of enlargement of my iris thanks to these lens,
it's not as obvious as the circle lens because there's a lack of a black rim along the circumference of the lens.
can you see the little part of eye white that was present right underneath my iris disappeared after wearing the lens?

CLOSE UP:

geo cm 903 world green

while i find the colour to be extremely pretty, the pigmentation level is just right,
my friends told me it looks quite scary when they're looking closely at my eyes.
it is pixelated, but honestly speaking..
it's not as bad as the nudy lens in my opinion. :P

i have realized that the lens take on different shades under different lighting.
in the first photo it was under natural light in the afternoon, the circumference take on a darker shade and it looks emerald.
in the second photo i was still using natural light but it was in the morning, so the intensity and color of the sunlight made the lens look like a single shade of green instead of a spectrum of colors (as shown in the first photo).
how the lens look depends on the lighting you're in!

LOOKS&VARIATIONS:

geo cm 903 world green

this is how it looks with respect to my entire face. i like it's slight enlargement effect to be honest, my iris look so much more natural (in terms of size) with this pair of lens as compared to the hurricane browns.

winged eyeliner

makeup look 1: cool grey

[keypoints]
- light metallic shade over eyelid
- darker metallic shade on outer third of upper eyelid
- black winged eyeliner on top lash line
- black liner smudged out with black eyeshadow on bottom lash line

remember i said i found the perfect look to rock this pair of lens? this is what i'm talking about.
since we're playing with contrast, the black eyeliner is a MUST when i wear this pair of lens.
the metallic shade was there to enhance the look by sandwich-ing the black eyeliner such that the light-dark-light combination will bring about the contrast that i was hoping for.

classic eyeliner

geo cm 903 world green

[keypoints]

- black eyeliner on top lash line, horizontal wing to elongate eyes
- matte brown powder to lightly line the outer third of the lower lash line
- light color eyeshadow to highlight inner corner of eyes
- i forgot to wear mascara that day, i normally would spam mascara for a simple look like this.

this look is so plain but there is still the "pop" factor in it all thanks to the black eyeliner!
i didn't want to go too overboard with the eyeliner that day as i was trying to go for a friendlier look,
gotta agree with me that the first look was kind of unapproachable, right?

eyeliner and eyeshadow variations

i've experimented with both the black and brown eyeliner for this pair of lens, and i've come to realize that the black liner suits the overall the most.
why so? because there's a huge contrast between the dark eyeliner and light coloured lens,
it's the contrast that gives my eyes the pop.

somehow it just looks weird when i pair it together with the brown liner.
you be the judge! maybe it's just me *shrugs*.

geo cm 903 world green

[keypoints]
from top left in clockwise direction:
1. pink eye shadow + black eyeliner.
2. brown eye shadow + brown eyeliner.
3. brown eye shadow + black eyeliner.
4. blue eye shadow + black eyeliner.

over here i've tried the lens with different eye shadows and different style of eyeliner.
maybe it' sjust me, but i thought that the brown eyeliner is a little too "soft" for this lens, it doesn't give it the contrast that it needs.

just need that black liner to rock this pair of lens.

=======

ENDING NOTES:

i've actually tried on the world grey, brown and finally the green now.
i have a hard time ranking which is my favourite, because i like them all equally.
these lens serve me the purpose of bringing contrast to my eyes, since my original eye color is dark, by lightening it up and then contrasting it against a black eyeliner, it creates such a sophisticated look.

however i'd say this lens isn't for the faint hearted,
please do not wear it for a job interview.
hahahaha! i stuck to my hurricane browns for that purpose.
